It’s Gotta Be You - Chapter Three

As I approached the hotel entrance, I found Niall sitting on one of the benches outside. He had his phone out and was texting furiously. His eyebrows were creased and he seemed concentrated on something. That look was so adorable on him.

Niall hadn’t noticed me walk up to him until I sat down in the empty seat beside him. He quickly looked up when he realized that someone had occupied the spot. Seeing it was me, he beamed. The creases on his forehead relaxed and a smile blossomed onto his face. I couldn’t help but to smile back. “Hi!” I said.

“Hello,” he smiled.

“How was your day?” I asked.

“It was good. I’ve been waiting all day to see you again, though.” I blushed. Why did he have to say cute stuff like that? “Now, where are we going to get you some pretty clothes from, eh?”

I jumped up from off the bench and held out my hand. He wrapped his hand around mine and, still blushing, I led him across the road to the nearest shopping centre. I pondered over which store to visit before I decided on one. We stopped in front of Next. “Here we are,” I announced.

“Okay, love. Choose whatever you want! There’s no budget!”

“Niall, no, I-”

“Amaia, it’s fine,” he assured me. “I’ll leave you to it. I’m going to get some food. Text me when you’re done.” He waved and flashed me a smile before leaving to explore the food court.

Typical Niall.

I searched around the shop in the hopes of finding the perfect outfit and finally, after a lot of effort, I did.

I chose a white strapless dress with a flowy skirt that stopped just above the knee. It was embroidered with little white flowers and embellished with tiny silver sequins along the hem. It was absolutely beautiful.

To go with it, I found some gorgeous tan high heels, which had a cutout pattern running down the side of them. I picked up a skinny tan belt and a tan bag. I was all set.

I went to find Niall and he took me to the tills to pay. I felt bad about him paying for my clothes, so I offered to pay him back. We bantered for a while before I gave up; he was determined to pay for the outfit. Niall was just too sweet.

At the tills, my phone began to ring and my ringtone echoed through the store.

‘You’re insecure, don’t know what for, you’re turning heads when you walk through the doo-o-or’

Niall looked at me and laughed. I felt the heat rush to my cheeks. I had been blushing a lot lately.

‘Mum’ flashed on the screen. Shit. I’d forgotten to ring her to tell her I wasn’t coming home. I quickly accepted the call.

“Hello Mum!”

“Hello darling! Are you nearly finished at work? It’s getting late!”

“Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I’m going out with a few friends, I’ll find my own way home.

“Alright, Amaia. But don’t be home too late!”

“Okay, I’ll see you later! Bye!”

I hung up and looked at Niall. He had just finished paying. “Is everything okay?” He asked.

I nodded. “Everything’s fine. It was just mum wondering when I’ll be home.”

“We’ll make sure you get back safe.” He grinned.

As we walked out of the shop, I suddenly realized, I didn’t have anywhere to get ready. “Niall, I have nowhere to change into these lovely clothes?” I held up the bags for emphasis.

“Don’t worry. You can come back to my room to have a shower, get ready and all that jazz. I need to go and speak with the boys anyway.”

“Sounds like a plan, Stan,” I joked. “Thank you so much!”

“That’s alright, Maia. Anything for a beautiful girl like you!” Maia? He gave me a nickname? I felt butterflies erupt in my stomach. I gave him a hug. It felt good, but I quickly let go. Was this weird? When I looked back at him, he was smiling. So I took that as ‘no, it wasn’t weird’.

Together, we enjoy the pleasant walk back to the hotel in the cool spring air, the conversation flowing easily.

This day couldn’t get any better.
